Evil Waffles 04/05/2011

Evil waffles refuse to be breakfast
They leap of the plate and quickly make haste
Evil waffles buy tons of bottles of chocolate sauce
And they squeeze it all out when they get cross
Evil waffles have a single ambition
To either dominate the world or dominate the kitchen.

This trailer is by far the best one we have seen of any of the other HP movies. We get to see Molly Weasley fight Bellatrix Lestrange, Snape visit Godric's Hollow and quite of a bit of Voldemort too. My favourite scene would probably be at 1:09, when Harry and Voldemort are standing at th edge of a wall up at Hogwarts.
"Let's finish this the way we started," Harry tells Voldemort, "Together." And he grabs Voldemort and jumps of the castle. You can hear Voldemort scream a bit before the next scene! It's not in the book, but its a really exciting scene!
I loved this trailer, and even if you have doubts on the final movie, you won't have any after you see this trailer!

I read an article on the BBC News Website about how the peaceful protests in Libya had turned into a Civil War. I thought this was really interesting, and wanted to share it with you.
(This is in my own words.)

These past few months have been full of revolutions in the Middle East. From Tunisia, to Egypt, to Algeria and a whole lot of other Arab World countries uprisings have spread like wild fire. But the most recent one that the world has had their eyes on has been Libya. The Libyan protests weren't given much importance at first. Everyone was sure that Gaddafi, the ruler, would be gone in a matter of two weeks. But he stayed on. And no matter how massive the protests got, no matter how peaceful or violent they were, the world was surprised. Gaddafi hadn't stepped down yet.

How could this be possible? How could the much more powerful leaders of the neighboring nations be thrown out in a month's time?
But Gaddafi, unlike the other leaders, was aggressive. He fought back. Hard.
He was prepared to kill people if they said anything against him. He crushed any uprisings, any protests that cropped up. But apparently the Libyan people were dying for him to go, because they never gave in. And Gaddafi's own supporters got a bit tense because they joined in the battle too.
And before the world knew it, we were looking at a civil war.
Some ministers in Libya thought that it had gotten too far and left the country, like the Foreign Minister, Moussa Koussa. He went to England, and there he told the British Government not to give up on the Libyan people. England, France and many other NATO countries joined the fight.
We are now faced with an important question...
So when will Gaddafi go?
Is it just a matter of time, or a few more years of conflict?

#1. The sky is blue. If it has appeared to be any other color to you, either its you that's hallucinating, or everyone else in the world is.

#2. People need to be more proactive, instead of grumbling about the way things are in this world right now.

#3. The world needs more leaders who consider consequences.

#4. It is impossible to be philosophical without being a bit cheesy.

#5. Toasts don't talk. Burnt ones don't either.

#6. Anyone who ignores Global Warming probably wants to be hit by a melting iceberg.

#7. No matter what you look like or who you are, you will always find people avoid you if you go around saying that broccoli will one day rule the world.

#8. Everyone on this planet wants to be happy. Unfortunately, the funny thing  is that not everybody can be at the same time.

#9. Dogs do not see in black and white, as it is widely believed. They see in colour, and cannot tell the difference between red and green. They probably call it gred.

#10. Cows cannot walk down the stairs. Please refrain from adding stairs to your cowshed, they will not help unless you want to cause your cow unnecessary stress.

Well, Warner Brothers has been taking their time but now at last we can see it... The Deathly Hallows Teaser Trailer!
It doesn't have the same excitement as the trailer, of course, but then again- its the first time we've actually got to see clips from the Deathly Hallows Part 2, the final movie in the Potter series!
Also, if you're watching the ABC channel's Potter Marathon, at the end of it you get to see a never-before-seen Deathly Hallows Part 2 clip!

I was really excited when I saw that this footage had been released, and I wanted to share it. The Harry Potter movies have been around for a decade. This was the last ever scene that the actors shot... It must have been very emotional for them...
I was also sad when I saw this, because it means that the Potter movies will finally come to an end, like the books did. But I cannot wait to see the Deathly Hallows Part 2 trailer!

Ethnocide. I bet half the people reading this will not know what "ethnocide" means. So I'll explain in a simple way: Ethnocide means "loss of culture". How can someone lose their culture? In lots of ways. Imagine that you belong to an indigenous tribe living in a rainforest. Suddenly, these random people come and cut down your precious trees. You need those trees for food and shelter.

So what can you do? Fighting back won't work. These strangers have got something called "court" and you don't want to get involved in that. You have to move out, out into the modern world which you know nothing of. They've got computers and mobile phones and televisions. They DEFINITELY do not hunt with spears or play indigenous music for entertainment. You need to fit in. And to do that you need to stop practicing your culture.

If you decide to settle down in the modern world, in a few generations time, your great grandchildren probably won't even remember where they came from.
Not many people are aware of it, but it is happening. Some people don't think it deserves attention, but think about it... Imagine not knowing where you came from,
living in a world with absolutely no ties to your culture.

But this can be stopped. NGOs like Cultural Survival are working to save the cultures and languages from going extinct. People like Wade Davis, an anthropologist, are spreading awareness about this problem. You can help, too. Be aware of this. Donate money to these causes. Trust me, it will help someone somewhere.

I am quite sure that I know what I am going to blog about. You can see my ideas in the mind map below.
